Specialization and uniqueness: the world's largest food products and industry innovation trade show. Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) was founded in 1964 and over more than six decades has evolved from a French industry salon into a global forum that sets the direction of the planet's food industry. The organizer is Comexposium, and the show is held every two years, making each edition a strategic event that the industry prepares for well in advance. SIAL Paris is part of the SIAL Network, uniting 11 events worldwide — from Montreal and Shanghai to Jakarta and New Delhi — collectively gathering 17,000 exhibitors and 700,000 professionals from 205 countries.

The thematic structure of the exhibition covers ten core business sectors reflecting the organization and evolution of the industry: from grocery goods and fresh produce to meat, seafood, dairy, beverages and food processing solutions. The parallel programme includes: SIAL Innovation — a food innovation competition with a 30-year history, where selected products receive a unique global platform across all SIAL Network shows throughout the year following Paris; SIAL Start-Up — a dedicated zone for over 650 startups, including a separate pitching stage with direct access to investors and buyers; SIAL for Change — a competition for companies with leading initiatives in sustainability and corporate social responsibility; and SIAL Insights — an analytical trends platform operating between shows.

The defining feature of SIAL Paris lies in the unprecedented concentration of purchasing power on a single platform. 5,000 top buyers with a combined purchasing budget of €60 billion are present at every edition, and 92% of visitors play a key role in procurement decision-making within their companies. 79% of all visitors are international guests from nearly 205 countries, making SIAL Paris not a French trade show with a global audience, but a truly global market that physically unfolds in Paris.

88% of exhibitors at the 2024 edition signed contracts with new countries — a key figure that explains the logic of participation better than any marketing argument. For a food producer, SIAL Paris represents the opportunity to cover in five days a journey that would ordinarily take years: from the first contact with an international buyer to a signed supply contract.
